From Legacygt.com

The D4ATF is a suitable replacement for the OEM Idemitsu HP fluid as well as the Castrol Transmatic J, Transmax E & J as well as the Pennsoil ATF J, yes the D4ATF is the correct fluid for your Subaru automatic.

Yeah I know. But I have a tendency to have a beer while working on any car which turns into 2 more before we get stuck in. Then one more while I find the right ratchet. Then another while it's draining. Then one more before putting bung back in.

Then pass out on back under car with job half done.

^^^^^Hahaha Awesome, this is why i like messing around with my cars, "Creative Drinking" i'd call it but karen calls it alcoholism.
she is way wrong, I think the malt flavour of beer goes really well with weetbix in the morning

I would recommend having the trans flushed as it was just sitting in the shed on the farm for several years before i decided to put it in the rs,
They will hook it up & as the trans is like a pump they will use it to flush the system.
