Hello all.
The rs need some work and i was wondering if u could share some thoughts.
It needs front and rear end up-grades.
Originally i wanted to keep it stock but it needs too mych done. shocks wheel bearings all bushes. Leaks from steeringbrack engine mounts cam seals
While im in there i thought i could look at doing the steering rack and gear box.
Is there anything in particular people would recommend avoiding? Eg certain year sti setups?
From wot i have seen in here people are recommending BG rear ends wrx III or IV boxes.
Do i need to go GTB to get turbo axles as the DOJ and UFJ's are pretty much toast.
Wot r peoples thoughts on 4.11 vs 4.44?
Just windering wot people have found thru experience
Thanks for ur time
Cheers cal

wow where to start? You have so many options. I'll pitch in on gearboxes. I'm running a GTB/V3 sti box 4.444 final drive matched up to a 4.444 rear diff. I chose this box because of its taller gearing which is much better for motorway cruising. They're a common upgrade from the factory 4.111 and one I'd recommend.

Ditch the round oil filled engine mounts and go solid rubber sti they are easy to find, cheap, and low maintenance

A few of us on here have run the red kyb shocks with great success.
Alloy arms from 97-99 wrx
Bigger sway bars (later model legacy/wrx run bigger bars, an aftermarket rear bar 22mm is a really good upgrade, have heard tribeca front bars fit but unknown
Racks can be reconditioned around the 250-300 mark
sti engine mounts
shifter bushes/short shift kit makes the car feel nicer
4pot sti brakes are bolt on and offer a good upgrade if matched with decent pads
Good tyres go a long way

I never found any problems with the early model boxes, shorter the better if you ask me haha.

Version 3/4 or B&C Rev BG GT-B Gearboxes are quite common.
Mines some NZ new RA short ratio box. It doesn't seem to suit them quite as well as the 3/4 or BG boxes.

I'm quite fond of the BH turbo manual boxes. They are often are in better health. But might be the wrong ratio setup for a BC.
For struts I kept it easy and got some brand new KYB Excel G struts. They made the car handle very very well.
I have alloy control arms, 19 mm front and rear sway bars and getting some decent tires. The Bridgestone RE003's.

Good tires help these old girls out alot!

Other than that, I kept mine simple but refreshed. It drives really sweet when it all comes together!
