Hey All,

So I decided to take a look under the car today and try and work out where my power steering is leaking from.
I squeezed the boots around the ends a little, and would you look at that, clean fluid starts dripping/pouring out:



So I'm guessing the end seals on rack have gone?
Having never worked on P/S systems before, is this a DIY job to fix?
If so, would anybody know the part numbers I require, or when I may find them?

Thanks for that, would the part numbers for the seals be the same as the ones listed in that article?
I believe the RA has a different rack, but I assume the seals would be the same.

So I contacted my local dealership, and they send me this screen shot, asking what parts I need.
Now based off of the above article, I THINK it's 34190 in this screen shot, which they told me is: 34128AA150

Which is also on Partsouq/Amayama for ~$35
Any thoughts on if this may be the actual part number of what I'd need, or not? As this leak has gotten really bad now, and the local place that rebuild them quoted me between $500-800 to get it rebuilt

also unrelated to you

34128FA010 should be for the v1-2 wrx and I assume anything ej20g with the same turn ratio

so rsra must have a slightly different rack seals then

Haha yeah, that's what I'm thinking, worst comes to worst it's only $40...

From what I've read about the different kits, I think that must be correct, and the RA must have different seals due to the different rack.

Alright so I had a look at that link you posted Sammy, and compared it to entering my VIN, and this is what I get:

So going by that, if the repair kit that's well known for the standard rack is 34128FA010, then going by those images, the repair kit for mine should be 34128AA000?

Edit: and I now see that 34128AA000 has also been substituted for 34128AA170...

34128AA000 comes up as ej20e/d e.g non turbo

I would stick with what the dealer said

Hmmmmm, using that website gives me the part number for bc5 gts2/rs/gt kit is - 34128AA170

That's the thing though, they didn't say what kit, they just sent me that screen shot and told me to tell them which part I was requiring :/

So if the rsra has the quick rack then couldnt you find the parts from an sti with a quick rack also?
