swapping out v7/8 shocks for billies with Dobi springs. Needed to do top hat change on the billies. Noticed they didn't have washers in their assembly whereas the V7/8 ones did. Banged the billies in the BF and they were knocking like a mofo but it was more a metal on metal sound. Wondered if they were supposed to have thick washers like the v7/8 ones I have do.

I'm assuming the v7/8 shocks already in the BF are a factory shock and spring with a pre facelift 2 piece top hat............I don't have the history on them beyond that.
The billies are strait out of a B4 and had a 1 piece top hat but I didn't take any notice of the model. They had Dobi lowered springs on them. The BF tophat fitted strait up to the Dobi springs no prob

The washer goes directly under the main top hat bolt. If you had it wrong, trust me, you'd notice, the racket from driving frank with no washers to the engineering shop was incredible! Are the struts new? That said, excels aren't inverted, so shouldn't get the dry lube knock of the STi KYB's and Bilsteins...

<Shale>: Blighter doesn't really have an accelerator pedal, it's more just a loudness pedal. You can change volume, but you won't go any faster.

<Reuben>: I feel like when you stomp the throttle in Blighter, it's like you've startled an old man!

See, I put mine in the top hat, directly under the nut...
