How comfortable are the version 8 wrx seats vs the gc8 wrx seats?

In terms of firmness, bolster, how well it holds you in place on corners etc?

2 cents.....

My only complaint with the V8 seats is they seemed to "scuff up" a lot quicker than the GC8 seats I had in my old wagon. Otherwise, I reckon the V8 ones are firmer and more confortable on a long drive. It could be my imagination, but the V8 ones also have a higher ride height.

While I'm at it, the "over the shoulder" check is harder in the V8's (it could just as likely be my fat ass however)

V7/8 seats are far comfy for fatter people such as me, I've had them in my old wagon and loved them

My v7 STi seats actually allow someone of non-Asian height to fit in vertically (just).

GC/gf ones say no

I'm not a fatty, in fact probably closer to a hobbit in proportions, but I loved my v7 sti seats. Everytime I got in the car, they gave me a cuddle.
Gc8 seats to me lack a bit of padding in comparison.

Gda. Seats do sit quite high in a BC or gc chassis but can be rectified with buddyclub or bride lower rails.

Haha I'm with you in the hobbit size (5'7") so I don't think I'd have an issue with how high they would fit ;)

Chill man ;) I'm just asking out of curiosity for later.

As soon as I get new brake pads and fluids she should be sweet to drive down to the panel beaters..... I think. Should probably out the speedo back in first 0_o

You get mad backfires on the overrun, and lumpy idle with no speedo in. It's like race mode.

<Shale>: Blighter doesn't really have an accelerator pedal, it's more just a loudness pedal. You can change volume, but you won't go any faster.

GC8 here too, and 100kg. GD sit too high for my liking, but they're definitely firmer and more huggy.

I'm just on 6 foot. I would guess they sit maybe 3" higher? Dunno, hard to say sorry, but I hate cars where my hair brushes the roof. Makes me feel cramped and claustrophobic.

Guess you're taller than I remember :lolz:

And if you're hair is brushing the roof, I think I should be all good being 5" shorter than you and have no hair

My hair actually rubs on Shales ceiling when I'm in the passenger seat, that's how high. They are essentially too high... Amy has no problem, being 3ft tall'n'all, with her, her eyes are essentially at the GC8's designed intended level, but for me, I feel like i'm driving a hilux. FANTASTIC seats, just need some better rails.

It's actually a bit too high for me too in all honesty; in a GC8 the GDB seats (mine are version 10, the difference is in the fabric cut though rather than any overall design) are just too fricken' big.

The side bolsters come quite close in the middle and as mentioned above they take up a LOT of horizontal space when you're trying to shoulder check - but I'm a chronic mirror checker because of the enormous wing anyway so it's not a bother for me, but something to keep in mind. The top of the seat is larger than a GC8, and they sit a mile higher too, so most mere mortals sit with their heads bouncing against the ceiling as it is and the back seat passengers really can't see SHIT (and as a result can get a bit carsick if they're prone).

The rails of the GDB seats are particularly high, which is where the seat gets a fair bit of its skyscraping form from. I'll be looking at aftermarket rails, or at least a GC8 swap, to see if I can get it to drop a bit closer to normal GC8. Doubt it will ever quite get there as the base of the seat seems a fair bit deeper.

On top of all of it, the back of the seat is also very deep. Rear passengers get a faceful. I can only really get short people in the back, and often I will actually switch drivers if I have two 6-footers wanting a ride and sit in the back myself because I can actually get my legs in, whereas anyone of average Kiwi height finds themselves straddling the seats awkwardly.

This is all in a GC8 though. From what I've heard from a few people that have swapped in either-or, thanks the the BC being a sane size in between when it comes to cabin shapes, it seems the GDB seats are a useable fit compared. But plenty of people use GC8 seats in them too to great effect.

My advice from this wall of text is to find a friend that has either the exact setup you're after, or a friend you can borrow a seat from for an hour or two and actually test drive it in your car before sinking $$ into expensive seats. I didn't get what I was expecting because I leapt at a classified...I wouldn't change them now, but had I known about the absurd fitment at the time I probably wouldn't have bought them. Seats are a personal preference at the end of the day, and an ill fitting seat will piss you off, so test fit first if you possibly can :) I would give you mine for a day if I was still in Auckland.

All shall be taken into consideration.

I assume the bc seat belt won't work with the GDA stalk, I'm not a fan of the bc stalk, long wiggly thing that didn't sit comfortably, would you be able to put a GDA seat belt into a bc?
