Have you ever picked up an ECU and wondered wtf it fits? Well this list applies to JDM gen 1 Legacy only. NZ new *may* be the same however.

The order goes part number, revision, 2 digit code, engine. With the part number, put 22611 in front of it, as this is the Subaru prefix for engine ECU. The first one is then 22611AA330. Ok?

AA330 - A - C1 or B4 - EJ18S
AA331 - A - C2 - EJ18S
AA332 - B - E5 - EJ18S
AA333 - B - H1 - EJ18S
AA350 - A/B - B2 - EJ20D
AA600 - A/B - E3 or C6 - EJ20G RS/RS-R/RS-RA
AA740 - A/B - E4 or C7 - EJ20G GT
AA850 - C - F1 - EJ18S
AA851 - C/D - P6 - EJ18S
AA870 - C/D - F3 - EJ20D MT
AA880 - C/D - F4 - EJ20D AT
AA890 - C/D - F5 - EJ20E
AA900 - C - K1 - EJ20G RS/RS-R/RS-RA
AA910/911 - C - K2 - EJ20G GT MT
AA920/921 - C - F8 or K3 - EJ20G AT
AB190 - D - K4 - EJ20D MT
AB200 - D - K5 - EJ20D AT
AB210 - D - K6 - EJ20E
AB220 - D - K7 - EJ20G RS/RS-R/RS-RA
AB230 - D - K8 - EJ20G TW MT
AB240 - D - K9 - EJ20G AT
AB330 - D - M4 - EJ22E

TW = touring wagon. If it lists EJ20G AT, and nothing else, that means it fits both sedan and wagon.
MT = manual trans
AT = auto trans

All ECU's suit green air flow meter and grey injectors.

Cheers for that Boostin. That just confirmed that the extra ECU sitting in my laundry cupboard came from OneFiddy.
Now to solve the big question of how an ECU ended up in my laundry cupboard.

Think it may be more of a case of being extremely drunk and still carrying it when I went to wash my hands... I think.

Well that's interesting. Because the ECU stolen from my garage was a K3 and that came from Davebro's old BC5 race car. I also have an ECU that is an F8 from vivian that is allegedly from a BC5. I should grab the part number and check...

Pull your handbrake just enough so the light comes on. That sends the ECU into full race mode.

I've got a shortblock right next to the clothes dryer. It's okay these things happen.

Interesting. My current car came with an E4 which I swapped for a K8 which came with the old one. Can someone translate this for me please?

Interesting. Obviously some ECU's have 2 codes for the same part number. I'll edit the list.

My 89 RS-R has a rev D manual wagon ECU in it. Who knows what's been fitted to them over 20+ years!

Awesome list, good shit ryan.

Also, the wee note at the bottom, "All ECU's suit green air flow meter and grey injectors."

I'm not so convinced EJ18S's have grey injectors, and a... well, 'conventional' AFM :P Should that read all turbo ecu's?

<Shale>: Blighter doesn't really have an accelerator pedal, it's more just a loudness pedal. You can change volume, but you won't go any faster.

<Reuben>: I feel like when you stomp the throttle in Blighter, it's like you've startled an old man!

right, everyone listen up.

If you have an E4 ECU, part #22611 AA740 I want you to open it up and tell me what (if you find one) ROM chip you have. Mine came with one that has "Group N" and "#B3CE" written in pencil on it. I know it probably doesn't seem like much, but I found on TM someone is selling a chip pulled out of an an E4 with a similar code on it written in pencil. Same handwriting. Google gave me more hits of Group N chips being found on E4's also. A couple of old TM listings and the like. Now I am aware that there are heaps of ROM chips for these things floating around, but seeing another one that is so damn similar and that was in the same ECU as mine gets me wondering. I checked with the previous owner of my old GT and he had no clue about the chip (first NZ owner, I am/was the second), so that leads me to believe these were fitted in Japan before they were shipped off to our shores. Which is pointless to know, but cool. Could be like a lucky dip. The automatic I sold to Jase and Brent in Welly didn't have a chip in the E4 it had though :(.

Also, the J1 resistor was cut but had been resoldered at some point (Maybe to pass some sort of compliance BS here?) so it hadn't been activated.
If you find a ROM chip in your E4 ECU with #xxxx written in pencil let me know. I'm damn curious. Shit, even if you have one that's in a different ECU let me know.

Pull your handbrake just enough so the light comes on. That sends the ECU into full race mode.
