Brilliant idea :D

Quite handy that we're just entering advertising studies in my web course, huh. :brows:

Breathing life into the Area Reps discussion thread after a year, thanks to a bit of PM correspondance pointing out that DOBC is now a lot bigger than it was, and some areas are reaching critical mass.

Wellington is the area of most focus for social activity, though Auckland's scruffy self is actually bloody active in the flesh.

If we were to cast votes for area reps in the two biggest action hotspots as above, would you 1) have someone in mind to lead the area, and 2) consider it the right sort of time to start looking at area management and regular meets?

My vote is yes, but I am but one broski.

dont really see a need for it yet, as we said on cs AGES ago dont really need one as the group we have we are good at arranging stuff if anyone wants to do something but if others want to go for it

And the proper meets I've been to where we actually drive our cars, pretty much no other DOBC'ers go to. It's CS people.

This is why I'm not just rolling it out side-wide. Auckland tends to do its own thing, it's traditionally a very scruffy area for meets - seems different in Wellington, which is where the question came from. Each area is different. If Auckland is happy doing its thing then that's sweet. I'd hesitate to tar it with the CS brush though. The advantage of course is that it's the heavyweight region for DOBC modsticks :P

Actually, now that I've moved, it's pretty evenly spread.

Anyway, there seems to be a call for something more organised in Wellington, as a lot of action happens away from the forums. I'm keen to see what you guys up there think too.

If people wanna rep, then rep away. Doesn't have to be every centre does it?

Certainly doesn't. Eventually we'll need it, but the suggestion is that Wellington has the most momentum and is a good place to trial our methods...see what DOBC does and doesn't need. I'm not necessarily thinking of the crap that reps have to do over yonder (not that I did anyway, lazy rep is lazy), but it'll get to the point where we'll need someone to 'look after' the chaos that each area will develop into.

Once there's 20 or so highly active members in each area, IMO it benefits from the extra attention. At the moment, AKL is mostly rarking around in the forst, random BBQs and beers at the Moa. :D

My last ruff count of DOBC members in Welly was over 20..............many of these are also CS of course.

The CS meets here are good social events..... but my thinking at the time was that DOBC welly had almost reached a critical mass to start doing 'things' that had more of a DOBC focus (these being open to CS members as well) ...................hence the idea of the DOBC workshops that I was testing with Ichi and you all.......some great ideas you guys had too and I'm gona follow these up with Ichi

It was me that messaged Shale about the area reps thing and how these might eventually be dropped into place around the country as the numbers came online.........especially in the main centres. My interest is purely to grow a strong DOBC culture and see the club thrive

So this revived thread is sussing out your thoughts on this.

My car will be out of action for a while but I'll still be active with the club and I'll be posting up stuff as I get it back on the road again.............can't wait cause I'm going cold fark'n turkey here!..........the nissan shitta I'm driving just aint cut'n it! :lolz:

Next week I hope to know about a job I got interviewed for............fingers crossed

Well, I'd support Wellington getting a rep. Essentially getting someone with organisational skills to be the go-to-guy for the club there, the one that organiseses meets, makes bookings, holds the 'moa card' etc.

So if someone (Not mentioning any names... Joe... :P) wants to step up and take on that responsibility, go right ahead!

The Welly crew is growing and a lot of that is down to Joe's energy & enthusiasm, He is really keen to develop the club locally and get activities going.

I would be happy to support Joe as Area Rep. Posted Image

Disclaimer: LOL DIDN'T READ!

Area reps nationwide is tough. I see it that NI are in a better position for them than SI areas due to member numbers in the individual areas.

There are probably more DOBC members in Wellington than there is in all the SI. SI members are also much more spread out. I recall RAYDEO telling me how hard it was to get shit going for that reason. Being active on the forums is one thing, being active in the real world is another.

I'd be active in the real world if there was more people to be active around who wanted to be active too.

Pull your handbrake just enough so the light comes on. That sends the ECU into full race mode.

I reckon the best way would be on a as required bassis, and not actually having any titles yet. Just having someone with a good rapport with the club basically.
