Here is an explanation of what all the ranks mean, as per request of a user.
Most of you will have noticed you have a series of brown pips, and a user title by them. These are, of course, post-based. Here is the list of possible 'standard' brown ranks for DOBC users:

As you can see, there is a changeover point where one gains red pips instead of brown. By this point, a user would be a well-known and obviously active contributor to the forums, and the red pips reflect their loyalty to the club. At 2000 posts you can have any title you wish - if I figure out how, I'll set it so you can change your own title at this point
There are other pip colours too, and this diagram shows them:

Administrators
There is only one admin account on DOBC, but three users (so far) with administrative powers. These are purely for dealing with back-end technicalities, NOT for moderating. DOBC, Wiretap and myself can view the back end, so for site-related questions, these are the best points of contact.
In time, should the MSNZ dreams come to life for DOBC, committee members will have yellow pips as well (but will be part of a separate entity - the forums will forever be a dictatorship!
Moderators
Dirty Ol' BC is a club and forum that prides itself on its cosy, friendly and respectful culture where all enthusiasts are treated equally. As such, our moderating team is very small and at the moment, is inactive as it is not required.
Once the moderators are given their whacky-sticks and guidelines, this section will outline who has powers, and what areas they look after.
The purpose of moderation here is to keep the forums tidy (example: moving old classifieds, or preparing 'finished' threads for a complete write-up), and to keep any and all nastiness off the forums. Free speech, especially venting, is encouraged here but when attacks and abuse start up, action will be taken.
(And on that note, jolly good job people - to date, not one single reported post or deleted thread!)
Area Reps
So far, we don't have any - but when we do, they will gain green Moderator pips and manage their given area.
If you think your area is busy enough to require an Area Rep for meets and forum control, post up! We shall vote a member in.
Senior Members
These people are respected members of the wider community, resident experts or other high-value users that the rest of us look up to. Often they will have a personalised user title to explain to newcomers their roles here.
They share the red pips with big posters; red pretty much means 'this user contributes plenty to the community, and we are recognising that.'
Motorsport Members
Given time, DOBC will have some form of MSNZ recognition; ideal scenario is a separate entity existing to maintain this, and being affiliated with the forums and website, which are in turn governed by the current team rather than the MSNZ sector's committee.
Two types of paid membership will be offered in due course; this particular kind has the benefits of the standard paid membership, with MSNZ affiliation. (If you are a paid member with MSNZ membership elsewhere, you are welcome to ask for the pink pips here for free)
Contributing Members
This is paid membership here in blue... a start-up fee gets you this status along with goodies, which are currently being discussed elsewhere. An annual renewal fee, smaller, keeps the blue pips in place and, once we have confirmed sponsors, keeps your discounts too.
At this stage it looks as though your paid membership gets you:
- Window stickers
- Lanyard
- Membership card
- Mini tool kit, branded DOBC!
- Access to premium forums
- Member discounts/services with sponsors
- Cheaper and preferential access to any official events
Once DOBC has all of this to offer you, paid memberships will be made available.
First Gen Driver
This status is a secondary group; it recognises your BC/BF ownership, and has special access to a BC/BF-only area of the forums.
Looks like a normal membership aside from the obvious added access.
You MUST currently have some form of first-generation Legacy to gain this status! You are welcome to ask for this status; simply flick a please and a picture of your car to an admin or moderator.
If you sell your Legacy, then unless you ask to be removed, you'll keep your 1st Gen Driver status. Once a lover, always a lover!
Member
Pretty basic. Free to join, free to chat as much as you wish. 'Mere' members are considered equal to all others, so never think there is pressure to upgrade; all members brown or otherwise are cherished here.
