I'm getting quotes for proper DOBC business cards right now...looks like it's gonna be a hundy or two for a thousand of them. They're going to be super heavy stock (350gsm), and satin finish - not glossy, nice and smooth.

I'll mail out packs of fifty to anyone who wants them. These are for giving to people who are interested, or if you see a mighty fine Subaru you think should join the forums :)

Show of hands for people who want cards in here. Once I have them, I'll PM everyone for their addresses, and shove a handful into an envelope :lolz:

THEY HAVE ARRIVED.

Tried Vistaprint, or are they too generic?

I got some printed from a company in Hamilton - $99 for 1000.

Vista are fuckin' NASTY. They won't do offset printing (first thing stopping us from doing DOBC cards), and the price they were going to charge in comparison to EVERY other rig was astronomical for an inferior product. Generic CMYK in a strange size with no real support for proper file formats isn't my cup of tea.

For the same price or less I'm getting 1000 offset single colour cards (Pantone 498C IIRC), super heavy stock (not offered at Vista) with matte varnish. They will look a million dollars with the one colour as it will be solid, no dot gain like you get in digital printing.

Looks like Zebra only do colour as well.

Looking at both Rocket Print, and Nicholsons for offset runs. You'll see the difference when a pack lands. :)

Going with an order from Nicholson Print; 350gsm satin finish offset printed cards - these are the GT-Ltd of cards, the Spec-R of printing.

They're also going to cost me $400.

But I've got a wee mini-project that'll cover 75% of that, so it should be good :)

They should be about two weeks away.

Oi. Do you wanna hand out pieces of digital crap that are going to turn to gross mush on people's windscreens after one little shower, or do ya wanna have something that actually looks like the forums, suits the DOBC brand and can handle some weather? :lolz:

Make no mistake, I will NEVER EVER get digital crap printed for DOBC for cards - you couldn't pay me to accept it as good enough. Don't forget this is for 2000 cards, on which people will be basing their thoughts of the club before they've even had a look at the forums. Corolla vs resto'd BC5. Think of it that way. :D

Handy doing these with a printer we already know - Gavin popped by for an APL job proof today and I had a quick chat with him about the cards. We're a rarity DOBC - not many people go for the super high quality non-digital cards any more. We're doing it OLD SCHOOL style :)

I'm half way through the wee contract job that'll pay for these. :D
