It looks as though that's where it's coming from - that general vicinity. And it's spraying hard/far enough to put water on the battery, near the overflow, up the side of the body and battery... also drips down the sump.

you've just described a very similar prob I had........it was a split radiator side tank on the passengers side.

After a hard run and about a week of looking for the fucker leak, I popped the bonnet and just happened to be looking down at the bottom rad hose and this very fine jet of coolant came out the middle of the side tank angling up towards the battery and overflow.

Couldn't see the split when the radiator was in but whipped it out and the split would have been about 300mm long..........I caught it just in time

Jeepers! I had wondered if my radiator was leaking. Can't rule it out, but I've seen no jets of water from anywhere. And of course, after half-disconnecting the radiator, can't see any cracks there either. Again it doesn't rule out anything :D Hopefully Alex will find it and sort it so I can TELL EVERYONE WTF IT WAS. Damn 1st gens. :D

I can't say I've ever seen a left tank split, it's always the right....

I replaced the headlamp bulbs in the WRX as 1 had blown and I couldn't get a matching bulb. Then I noticed the opposite fog lamp had also blown. Grrrrr....

There is a perverse appeal about driving a car with your foot flat to the floor without actually breaking the speed limit . . . .

Why do you think I love my N/A Impreza so??

Foot on the carpet around Scenic Dr.

Gymkhana SUPER SOLID suspension and a bit of bracing in a lightened GC8 shell.

Speed limit 100.

Most corners marked as 35k - 45k.

WINK WINK WINK. :) I don't exceed the speed limit but when the weather is good, I can still leave the club WRXs and Legacys pushing to keep up. IT'S BETTER THAN SEX.

FFFFFFFFFFFFF- there are some NICE!! mods going on in here!!

I did something by myself completely for the first time  BIG SHOCK, OMFG.

So my high beam switch finally gave out right as I needed a WOF, so I had to go and get it fixed. THAT SUNDAY. Drunkenmonkey was going to Pick-a-Part anyway, so I hitched a ride; he didn't get the parts he wanted sadly, but very kindly jumped a huge puddle and ripped out the entire control unit, stalks and all, from a sad-looking BC3.

Once I got it home, I realised that FFFFFFFFFFFF- IT DOESN'T HAVE CRUISE CONTROL. It was hard enough finding one with the dimmer toggle for the dash lights! :x :x :x

So I took it upon myself to dismantle both my unit and the new one; ripped off the wee controller for the indicator/lights stalk (the one on mine was tacky with crap and grease, the new one was clean as a whistle), swapped them over, re-connected everything and was away laughing. No more hesitation with the highs coming on! And they came on EVERY TIME without fail! YUSS.

To celebrate, I went and got a WOF and a set of Arctic Blue lamps. And MY GOD what a difference! It certainly compensates for the truly lousy 1st gen high beams; the Narva bulbs really catch road signs, unlike the crap that usually finds its way into older cars.

Happy Shale is happy. :)

Next on the list: Install the GTB brakes DCVR kindly sold to me, and front Brembos for the Impreza :P
