Thanks fellas - The RS is only just holding together and I need to park it up for some TLC. Unfortunately the original daily is sitting in the other garage (2002 GTB) and needs a new bottom end so the old girl is 'filling in'. 1 month on since diagnosis and I still haven't sorted it. So if anybody is looking for a cheap project car (the GTB that is) drop me a msg.

Shale, that might take some thinking. Might use this post to get it straight in my head if you dont mind :)
List would be something like this:

Minimum to get her... more shall we say 'respectible' would be:
1) Front drivers and passenger door windows and mech assembly. (so i dont have to manually push and pull window up)
2) Factory scoop and remove WRX scoop (doesnt belong there IMHO).
3) It needs struts chronically - the bounce and lack of control is entertaining, but getting old quickly. (all corners)
4) Service - plus, injectors, T/belts (210k now), power steering pump etc.etc...*sigh

Motor is ok - doesn't blow smoke, comp test good, makes 'powah' according to bum dyno it chops hard, idles properly on cold and hot start and apart from gbox noise on down change shes "ok". Gets warrant each time with usual "we have to adjust your headlight angle" but i'm not under any illusions - shes far from rally ready ha!

Once ive moved the wagon and serviced the Ra, ill park her up and figure it out then...I know she'll hang in there :)

They usually hang in there come whatever :D She'll be good, just got age wrinkles ;)

Great to actually get a hard list I reckon, especially somewhere obvious. Great choice with the scoop too, many a DOBCer would agree!

New doors or a visit to pickapart is probably the easiest solution to the window problem. Those things are baaaaastards to work on. As for the struts, there's an imminent report on version 7 STi stuff in a BF wagon (not too dissimilar to BC, just heavier arse) - the boys are camping at the moment and one of them is borrowing my wagon. Could be the ultimate solution to your bounce issue there - young, stiff struts :D

Lookin' forward to seeing the old bird restored!
