I'm actually showing, as is Reuben - I MIGHT have the old tank with me too, which is nowhere near trackworthy and will just spectate. Quite a few from Welly and most of the Chch crew are going too, along with maybe a few jafas :D

World tech competition in Japan - on car and therory tests
managed to top score the therory test , but lost points on the on car test(even tho I finished first) due to not taking rubbish out of the glove box
and also my diagnostic approach wasnt the Subaru way ... :(

NZ and Aus had 2.5 na sohc ..USA had na dohc .. England had dohc turbo, so i knew ignition couldnt be "faulted" as the systems are different
I had spent a month setting up for this comp, traced looms etc working out what they could do to set the test car up
So i knew for instance if the rear wiper didnt go and the interior light worked then the fuse was ok as they share the same one.

Subaru methods are - start at the battery and work thru the system
Japan Won the comp - and i dont think you'll ever beat there clinical approach to working on cars
All in all a totally AWESOME experience to have had, even went thru the Subaru factory at Gunma - WOW

and yes V5's rock :)

Good enough for us tbh, the practical world is a different beast as you'd shown.

And +1, lucky bastard for that Gunma experience!

Its because you do it the kiwi way :)
and this is why we as technicians/fitters/engineers are sort after overseas, because we get the job done and we do it quickly and quietly and PERFECTLY :)
You may be No 2 in the world but you are and always have been No 1 to most of us :)
Owns REAL old school Subarus :)
