There was an option to have a sunroof instead of roof rails, and IMO it looks a bit naked. Chances are either the paint will be a different colour underneath (not faded), or it will have rust around the bolt holes.

It would be nice to do an intro for yourself in the appropriate section too. ;)

Yeah, i reckon they just look wrong without them. My old BG had none, and it always felt bald and un-interesting.

If you do remove them, you'll have to plug up the holes, any method of doing this will likely require re-painting of the roof. And to take them off, you have to remove the ceiling from the car, and unbolt them from within the cabin.

I'd say sanity errs on the side of leaving them on.

BGs look fugly without them yeah, but BF's seem to look quite smooth and sleek without them to me. I'd consider ditching mine if they weren't rivited to the roof in my case.

But as what Reuben and Boostin Said, the paint underneath would be either different or you'd have rust under the holes and then you've got the problem of filling the holes up and basically painting the roof.

Feel free to intro yourself in the "welcome" section. Looks like a nice BF5 you have there

My car has a sunroof and no rails and it looks fine :P

However as everyone says it would be a lot of work to remove and make it look nice again

Can attest to removing them not being fun at all <_<.

Yeah, I did it last week on the BF - took 3 hrs all up. (but I'm slower at this stuff that most ;-) Now I have 10 shiny bolts sealing up the holes. It did reveal a bit of rust coming thru, so it was good for that reason. I didn't remove the roof lining entirly - left the rear view mirror in place and then just dropped the rook lining down onto the seats. If you were going to weld the holes up straight away, then remove for sure.

Edit: If you're in WGTN, I'd be happy to help.....but here's a "How To" from ScoobyMods: Wagon Roof Rail Removal
